MANILA — On Friday, the last day of the extended registration for voters for the 2022 national elections was signed into law. Republic Act 11591 sets the last day of voter registration 30 days after its effectivity. It takes effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines, which was on 01 October.
The law was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on 30 September 2021. From the original 30 September deadline, voter registration extends until 31 October. However, voter registration will be suspended from 01 to 08 October to give way to the filing of certificates of candidacy. It will resume on 11 October. (RA/Headline PH)
