30 hours after its birth in Beijing, China, an infant has been confirmed positive for novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), the youngest carrier of the virus. China’s death toll related to nCoV has already reached over 500 people since last year.
According to health authorities in Beijing, the case is considered a vertical transmission as the infection was passed during pregnancy. Early before giving birth to the child, the mother was confirmed positive for the virus.
On the other hand, another case of a pregnant woman carrying the virus gave birth to a healthy baby confirmed negative for the virus.
China’s national health commission revealed that the oldest person diagnosed with the illness age 90 years old while 80% of the death toll are patients ages 60 years old and above.
