Amid the continuous surge in coronavirus cases in the country, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has given the go signal for the reopening of review centers, fitness centers, and internet cafes in places under General Community Quarantine starting August 1 at 30 percent capacity.

According to Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, this is to somehow resume economic activities again and to help people go back to their jobs, adding that the DTI will soon issue a memorandum circular to local government units about this.

Asked about whether the National Capital Region will be placed back under a stricter quarantine measure, Lopez bared that the economic team is leaning towards localized lockdowns applied on specific streets or buildings with a high number of COVID-19 cases.

Data from the Department of Health states that as of July 29, the country has 85,486 COVID-19 cases with 56,528 active infections, 26,996 recoveries, and 1,962 deaths.
