Philippine COVID-19 death toll now at 45

The Department of Health has confirmed that seven more patients have died because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest casualties now bring the total death toll in the Philippines to 45.

According to the Health Department, the latest casualties include patient 278, a 72-year old Filipino female from San Juan City. She has no history of travel and exposure. She was confirmed positive for COVID-19 last March 20.

Patient 540, on the other hand, is a 50-year old Filipino male from Pasig City. He was confirmed positive for COVID-19 last March 24. He had a pre-existing Diabetes Mellitus. He died of Acute Respiratory Failure, Community-acquired Pneumonia High Risk secondary to COVID-19.

The DOH also added that there are now 707 COVID-19 cases in the country.
