HeadlinesPH | 10th Wish Music Awards: A night of music, fashion & charity by OPM icons | By Leony Garcia | P-pop giant SB19 dominated the Wishclusive Ballad Performance of the Year and Wish Song Collaboration of the Year categories with their Wish Bus rendition of “Ilaw” and their hit song, “KALAKAL, ” in collaboration with Gloc-9, respectively.
SB19 members also shone as soloists. Stell won the Wish Ballad Song of the Year (“Di Ko Masabi”) and Wish Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards. FELIP, on the other hand, took home the trophy Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year (“Kanako”). Meanwhile, Josh Cullen got the Wish Hip-hop Song of the Year (“GET RIGHT”). PABLO received one of the night’s highest awards: Wish Artist of the Year.
Stell bagged this year’s Wishers’ Choice award after garnering the most number of votes across all nominations.
Justin had his own moment when he and labelmate dwta capped of the night on a magical note. They graced the WMA stage with the yet-to-be-released song, “Sampung Mga Daliri.
A momentous celebration of music and charity, Wish 107.5’s 10th Wish Music Awards at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, January 9, was WMAs’ biggest edition yet. The milestone celebration also honored two new KDR Icons, Ogie Alcacid and apl.de.ap. in recognition of their contributions to the industry.
Hit maker Alcasid is currently OPM president while, apl.de.ap, a member of the Grammy-winning group Black Eyed Peas and founder of Apl.de.Ap Foundation International, is recognized for the foundation’s help in nurturing young creatives and his committment to giving back to communities and children.
Kuya Daniel Razon, the man behind Wish 107.5, shared an inspiring message during the awards night.
“We at Wish consider ourselves blessed because we were given the opportunity to help share your music with the world. Be it through the radio, through the Wish Bus, or through our digital platforms, we’ve witnessed how your music transcends borders and touches hearts,” he said.
He recounted the past decade of the WMAs as he also noted that Wish 107.5 will continue to uphold its commitment to being a platform where both music and charity are celebrated.
Big winners all
The Nation’s Girl Group BINI also bagged three awards: Wish Group of the Year, Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year (“Karera”), and Wish Pop Song of the Year (“Pantropiko”).
They came in full force lending their star power to the momentous musical event.
Pop-rock royalty Yeng Constantino took home the Wishclusive Contemporary R&B Performance of the Year award with her refreshing Wish Bus rendition of “BABALA.”
OPM band Dilaw also emerged victorious after winning the Wishclusive Rock/Alternative Performance of the Year award for “Orasa.”
Major winners won P25, 000 while their chosen charity received P100, 000 each respectively.
